The UK BIM Alliance is delighted to announce a formal affiliation with the Nuclear Institute.  The Nuclear Institute is the professional body and learned society for the nuclear industry. Representing almost 3,000 professionals at all levels across the industry, from new build and operations to decommissioning, the Nuclear Institute sets the standards for nuclear professionalism.

Alastair Laird, Trustee NI “Digitalisation of the nuclear sector is not something that happens overnight; however our progressive approach to BIM, embracing new technologies and digitalisation corresponds to high levels of active participation in our Special Interest Group (DIG-SIG) and provides a focus for discussion and change. It is therefore great to become part of a wider BIM community and to be able to share multiple sector learning through co-operation.”

Philip Isgar DIG-SIG Chair “ After being part of the governments BIMTaskGroup from 2013 – early 2016, an opportunity came to broaden our efforts by working closely with Innovate UK – Knowledge Transfer Networks – Nuclear and Construction and Constructing Excellence. This led naturally to events where the DigSig profle was raised and the Nuclear Institue put out a welcome hand. The Nuclear Digital Community embraces all Clients, Tiers 1, 2 and the supply chain including SME’s. ”

Andy Boutle, UK BIM Alliance Engagement Co-Lead “We are delighted to further diversify the affiliate programme by welcoming onboard the Nuclear Institute.  From initial engagement with Philip and Alastair it’s clear they already have a mature and very active digital community who we look forward to working with.”

The Affiliate programme aims to bring together the professional institutions, trade associations and any other industry organisations to provide a consistent message and coordinated approach to digital transformation, working across silos to a shared objective.
